Ray’s Corner Soapbox – I’m a Blogger

Today the wife and I went to the Heritage Days in Pearce, AZ.  It was a good day for the celebration as we had lots of sun and warm temperatures.  This ghost town only comes alive two days a year and this was the weekend.  Arts and Craft vendors sell their wares at various booths.  This year was a little different than previous years in that they could not close the “main” road through town.  The result was there were fewer vendors than normal and hopefully by next year they will be able to use an area of county owned land for the celebration.  If you visit Pearce for taking pictures, the Old Pearce Pottery and the Prickly Pear Emporium are open most weekends.  You can find various gift items, pottery (duh), candles, jewelry, jellies, honey, salsa and goat milk soaps. (Plus many other items)

Meet Stan Benjamin and his wife, Connie.  Stan is “Mr. History” around the area always finding more and more interesting stories about this area of SE Arizona.  Stan is a retired Tucson Police Officer and has written several books about local Sheriffs and Marshals from the 1800’s to present.

We also met up with Al and Kelly from  “The Bayfield Bunch” at the celebration.  This was the first time I met Kelly and she only proved what I read before….she is the best looking part of the Bunch.  Al comes in somewhere after the dogs.

I went into a barber shop in Sierra Vista that had 50 choppers parked outside.  As I walked inside,  everyone pointed to the barber chair so I sat down. Out came the barber, 350 pounds of muscle and fat, leather tee shirt and a “I hate computer geeks” tattoo.  He walked up to me and in a loud, humiliating voice asked, “What do you want?”  Not to be humiliated I looked him square in the eye and said, “I’m a Blogger.”  Got the best haircut ever, became a member of the Mohawk tribe with five pounds of motorcycle grease to hold the hair in place.

That’s my story and I’m stickin’ to it.
